DFW saw a spike in job growth this September with the addition of 25,600 new jobs to the metro. Topping the charts was government, consisting of 6,300 of those new positions. The consumer price index for the Metroplex also came out and points to a large spike since the last observation in July. The UT Dallas Office of Facilities & Economic Development hosted its Fifth Annual Economic Development Summit last Wednesday. The event attracted more than 100 professionals in business, government, and academia to listen to transformative talks on the region’s emerging industries and infrastructure needs. The highlight of the event was a fireside chat between our own President, Dr. Richard Benson, and our keynote speaker, Ross Perot, Jr. Learn more about the Summit at F&ED This Week.

According to the annual listing by Site Selection, Texas’ business climate outranked every other state in the nation last year. Governor Greg Abbott remarked that the “…ranking highlights Texas’ business-friendly policies and the efforts of state and local economic development officials.” Read more at the Dallas Morning News.
