The key industries linked to Texas’ economy through exports and imports are agriculture, mining, and durable/nondurable goods manufacturing. In 2023, these sectors had a combined GDP of $516 billion within the state’s $2.6 trillion economy, with DFW making up $67 billion. This month’s issue of The Connection highlights DFW and Texas’ contributions to GDP.

NTxBio, a New Mexico-based manufacturer of pharmaceutical-grade raw materials used to develop RNA and protein therapeutics, is opening a $31 million biomanufacturing facility in Plano. The company received a Texas Enterprise Fund grant of nearly $1.5 million to open the facility, which will create more than 170 new jobs. This project win highlights North Texas’ growing momentum as a hub for biotech and life science companies.
