Economic Development Update

January’s labor market conditions point towards a slight decrease in activity following the end of the 2022 holiday season. While job postings are still well below their peak from the previous year, other metrics like actual job counts are still showing considerable growth relative to where they were after the start of the pandemic. Builders in Plano are considering the prospect to construct a transit-oriented development along the new DART Silver Line. This project would introduce a 325-unit apartment building strategically located between planned CityLine and 12th Street stations. A Washington-based video game company, ProbablyMonsters Studios, has announced that they plan to move hundreds of jobs to a new office in Fort Worth. This move was supported by the local city council, which agreed to provide the company $1.5 million in grants in return for creating 300 full-time jobs with an average annual salary of at least $75,000 by 2028, among other conditions.
