Economic Development Update

August 25, 2021

Cody Gibbs

This week the Office of Facilities & Economic Development added a new member to the team.

Cody Gibbs, a UT Dallas alum, will be starting his new role as an Economic Development Research & GIS Analyst.

Having worked in the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex his entire career, Cody brings nearly half a decade of experience in economic development from both the public and private sector. In his previous role, he worked for a local commercial real estate firm’s economic incentives division. There he supported his team in managing a large portfolio of clients, helping them navigate the economics incentive and site selection process across the entire United States. Prior to this, he served in a similar research and analytical role in the City of Garland’s Department of Economic Development, creating GIS assets and deliverables for the community.

Cody graduated from the School of Economics, Political and Policy Sciences in 2016 with his Master’s in Economics and a Geospatial Intelligence Certification.

In an effort to streamline the Request for Information process, the Office of Facilities & Economic Development has begun to develop a simplified template for our partners.

The goal of this new form are to make it easier for requestors to understand the information available from our office, allow our team to shorten the response time, and to improve the quality of deliverables. While the details are still being worked out, any recommendations or considerations are more than welcome. If you have ideas that you would like to be implemented, please send them to F&ED.

We are happy to fulfill customized data requests for our North Texas economic development partners and to connect your organization with resources and contacts at UT Dallas that could lead to mutual economic development partnerships.

Please reach out to F&ED to learn how your organization can partner with UT Dallas.
