DFW posted a net loss of about 6,000 jobs in February 2021, slipping below October 2020 levels, 143 thousand jobs short of pre-pandemic employment. Unemployment rates worsened slightly in Texas and DFW, at 7.5% and 6.8%, respectively, exceeding those seen during the November spike. Nationwide unemployment was 6.6 percent. Meanwhile, the monthly volume of job postings was the highest since before the pandemic. See this month’s DFW Labor Market Update for details, and look for our March 2021 update on May 12!

The University of Texas at Dallas will establish a significant physical presence in the Richardson Innovation Quarter – also known as the Richardson IQ® or The IQ® – by placing five newly developed research centers plus an extension of the University’s Venture Development Center in the heart of the district. The five new research centers will fall under the umbrella of UT Dallas’ new Center for Emergent Novel Technology at the Innovation Quarter (CENT-IQ). Read more about the CENT-IQ and the five centers selected to locate in the innovation district on the City of Richardson’s website.
