Economic Development Update

DFW lost 57,300 jobs in January 2026 and unemployment rose, although job postings increased by 12.8%. Sales representatives and merchandise displayers saw strong gains, while tax preparer postings declined. Inflation increased across regions. DFW ranked No. 1 in the nation last year for corporate headquarters relocations, according to a new analysis by CBRE. The North Texas region had the most net interstate or international HQ relocations in 2025 with 11. DFW tacked on an additional seven intrastate or intra-metro HQ moves. Most of the 11 interstate or international relocations were made by companies moving their HQ out of high-cost markets like Chicago, Los Angeles, New York City and the San Francisco Bay area, according to CBRE.
