Economic Development Update

The University of Texas at Dallas and Dallas Area Rapid Transit (DART) celebrated the opening of the UT Dallas Station on the new DART Silver Line with a ribbon-cutting on October 23. The Silver Line began service on October 25 and now connects the University with six other cities and Dallas-Fort Worth International Airport.
Pharmaceutical company AstraZeneca has expanded its Coppell manufacturing site with the aim of doubling production of its drug Lokelma, a drug used to treat a condition called hyperkalemia. The $445 million expansion includes a new 9,000-square-foot building, new manufacturing lines and administrative space, and will
support the addition of 30 new skilled manufacturing and laboratory jobs. This news comes as North Texas is gaining more visibility as a hub for life sciences and biotech companies.
The “Most Quoted Man in Texas” Dr. Ray Perryman, founder and CEO of The Perryman Group, will be the keynote guest at this year’s UT Dallas Economic Development Summit on November 18. Dr. Perryman wrote about recent business dynamics in his October column.
