The Dallas-Fort Worth region is preparing to welcome millions of visitors for the FIFA World Cup, offering more than 115,000 hotel rooms across major cities and complemented by a growing number of short-term rentals. Most visitor spending is expected to go toward accommodation and dining, with Dallas leading in hotel capacity, followed by Fort Worth and Irving. This month’s issue of The Connection explores the potential economic impact of the World Cup on our region.

Our team has updated an online tool visualizing employment growth in the Dallas-Fort Worth (DFW) region. DFW added more than 513,000 jobs between 2020 and 2024, marking a 14% increase. The growth was driven by strong increase in accommodation and food services, professional and technical industries, and arts and recreation.

In addition, we will host panels about how higher education must adapt to prepare

students for a future with AI featuring Taylor Shead of Stemuli, Dave Copps of Worlds and David Evans of Sentiero Ventures; and North Texas’ talent and innovation race with Aaron Demerson of the Texas Economic Development Corporation and Stacey Marx of AT&T.
